“As he said this he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. They weew still staring into the sky when suddenly two mwn in white were standing beside them and they said, “Why are you Galileans standing here looking into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him go to heaven.”” (Acts of the Apostles 1: 9-11).

We might compare the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord to the passing of a batton from one runner to another in a relay race. On this day, more than 2,000 years ago, Jesus passed the baton of continuing his work on earth to his followers. The way we complete that work is by witnessing to our faith and proclaiming it to others.

The words of the Gospel are very encouraging; “The disciples went out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it”

Please pray for the following who will be making their First Holy Communion at the 11.00 a.m. Mass this Sunday.

    Please pray for:

Who will be married at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Bicester at 12.00 on Wednesday, 20th May. We wish them many happy years together.
